Alongside all the classic drinks, we pay special attention to our wines – drawn from Portugal’s traditional growing regions.

Portugal is today the world’s fourth-largest wine nation and an insider’s tip among connoisseurs – some of its bottles rank with the very best anywhere. Around 500 (!) native grape varieties grow across the country. And even the simple “Vinho da Casa” delivers above-average quality every time.

Let us guide you through the list – and if a wine really wins you over, browse our little wine shop right next to the restaurant. Wine here is not just a drink but the passion of owner Carlos Vasconcelos.

A short wine primer: the regions

Minho

The cool, damp Atlantic climate of Portugal’s fertile north, between Porto and the Spanish border, produces a young wine made to be drunk early: Vinho Verde, alongside port the country’s most exported wine.

Alentejo

In a dry, hot climate, Portugal’s granary grows high-quality wines on limestone and schist soils – the kind that make wine lovers click their tongues.

Dão

North-east of Lisbon, vines grow on terraced granite slopes at altitude. The climate favours elegant wines – weighty reds, for instance, with finesse and class.

Douro

In Portugal’s north, some 100 kilometres east of Porto, schist soils store moisture and release it to the vines in the hot season, yielding classic reds of the best quality. The terraced Douro valley is world-famous: only here grow the grapes for Portugal’s best-known export, port wine.

Bairrada

In central Portugal, mighty, long-lived reds are made from the thick-skinned Baga grape, whose small dark berries carry plenty of tannin.
